GENERAL QUESTIONS

All of our adult classes are taught in English although our teachers speak and understand German as well. The children’s classes are taught in a mixture of both German and English, depending on what works best for each child.

We are happy and proud to say our members range in age from 4-70 years old and we are hopeful to continue to extend that age range as wide as possible.

Yes! The BAC was founded on the basis of non-professionals training in a professional, but supportive atmosphere. We are happy to have people of all levels, ages and experience with us at the BAC and strive to bring the gift of dance to as many people as possible!

To explain a bit about the class levels, the Intermediate and Advanced classes are faster-paced and are geared towards people who already have an established foundation in dance and while the teacher is definitely teaching technique, etc. in the classes, the people in the class don't necessarily need things to be explained like proper placement, technique etc. We certainly welcome questions and are more than happy to help with these things, but we wouldn't necessarily break these things down unless specifically asked as the Intermediate and Advanced classes are for people more interested in improving and building on the technique they already have.

The Beginner classes are for people who have had no prior dance training and for those that are especially looking for help with technique, placement, posture, etc. The exercises are more basic and the teachers provide more of a breakdown/explanation of the exercises.

We do have men in our classes, but not as many as we would like to see. We encourage men to join us!

We would recommend wearing the type of clothes you usually wear to exercise in. If you have ballet or jazz shoes, that would be great, however socks or bare feet would also be fine, depending on how you feel most comfortable. The dance surface of the Braswell Arts Center is a sprung floor, made especially for dance. If attending a pilates or yoga class, please bring your own mat. If attending a HipHop class, we ask you to wear clean trainers. And don’t forget your water bottle!

Yes, we have new members joining every week. The people taking our classes change each time so the class does not “build” from one week to another. Similar to yoga and pilates classes, the class is different every time so it is not necessary to join the same class from week to week.

Yes. We now offer Drop-In classes to accommodate those with an unpredictable schedule.

Please inquire directly with your health insurance provider to ask if they offer this type of benefit and, if they do, what you need to submit to receive it. We would be happy to help in any way we can.

Yes, you are welcome to join whichever class you feel most comfortable in.

Our regular BAC classes take place every week except during Basel-Stadt school holidays. During school holidays, the children’s classes take a break, however we do offer evening workshops for adults that are included in the BAC unlimited abo as well as open to the public. The only time BAC is closed completely is for the two-week Christmas/New Year break.

You can find an overview of our current class schedule here, but for the most up-to-date information about our upcoming classes and teachers, please check out our interactive schedule here. If a substitute teacher is planned or an adjustment is made, this is where you will learn about it.

Yes, you can. We know how hectic life can get, so we are happy to offer every member 4 weeks per 12 months in which you can pause your abo. If you wish to pause your abo, please send us an email in advance to notify us of the pause.

Although we are sad to see you go, if you would not like for the membership to renew automatically, please be sure to contact us no later than 30 days before the renewal date. To find your renewal date, please log-in to your Mindbody account.

You can cancel your membership by simply sending us an email. Please note we do not have the capacity to send reminders to each person about their upcoming renewal date so please be sure to keep this in mind as late cancellations will not be accepted.
