FAQs
Can my child try a class before joining?
Yes. New students are welcome to schedule a free trial class before joining the Kids & Teens program. This gives your child the opportunity to experience the class, meet the teacher and see if BAC feels like the right fit.
Does my child need previous dance experience?
No. Beginners are welcome at BAC. We offer age-appropriate classes for children and teens from ages 2–16, as well as advanced classes by invitation.
Which class should I choose for my child?
Our classes are organized primarily by age so that children can learn in an appropriate environment. You can use the schedule above to see the classes available for your child's age group. If you are unsure which class is the best fit, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
What languages are classes taught in?
Classes are taught in English, and our teachers also speak German, French and other languages, reflecting BAC's international community and helping us support children from a wide range of backgrounds.
How does the 20-class membership work?
The Kids & Teens membership includes 20 consecutive lessons and reserves your child's place in their regular weekly class. During the membership period, students may also make up missed lessons and explore other appropriate classes in the Kids & Teens schedule. The membership begins on the date of the first class and renews automatically.
What happens if my child misses a class?
Missed lessons can be made up during the active membership period by attending another appropriate Kids & Teens class.
Do classes run during school holidays?
No. Regular Kids & Teens classes do not take place during the official Basel-Stadt school holidays. BAC also offers Holiday Arts Camps for children ages 5 and up during Basel-Stadt school holidays.
What should my child wear to class?
Ballet students follow the BAC ballet uniform policy. Each ballet class has a designated uniform color, and students are expected to wear the appropriate uniform each week. Uniforms and dancewear are available through the BAC Dance Shop.
Do you offer a family discount?
Yes. BAC offers a 10% discount on memberships for partners, children and siblings.
Do you offer financial assistance?
Yes. Eligible children receive a 50% discount on BAC memberships. This includes members of KulturLegi Beider Basel as well as qualifying recipients of Sozialhilfe or Prämienverbilligung. The discount applies to memberships only.
Can health insurance help cover the cost of dance classes?
Possibly. Because BAC is a member of Tanzvereinigung Schweiz, some Swiss supplementary health insurance plans may reimburse part of the cost of membership fees. Coverage depends on your insurer and your individual policy, so please check directly with your health insurance provider.
Does the membership renew automatically?
Yes. Kids & Teens memberships renew automatically. Please refer to the applicable BAC membership terms for details regarding changes or cancellation.
