MUSICAL THEATER (OPEN LEVEL)
Discover the magic of musical theater in this engaging workshop led by Melanie Day at Braswell Arts Center! This class focuses on the core elements of acting and movement. Participants will explore character development, stage presence, and expressive movement while working on scenes from popular musicals. JAZZ (OPEN LEVEL)
Immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of jazz dance. This class is perfect for dancers of all skill levels, offering a dynamic blend of traditional jazz techniques and contemporary style. You will work on sharp, rhythmic movements, improve your technical skills, and build your confidence as a performer. From classic jazz steps to the latest trends, this class emphasizes musicality, precision, and expressive performance. Whether you're looking to refine your technique or just want to have fun dancing, this jazz class will inspire and challenge you.

Embark on a journey of fluid motion and expressive storytelling in our Contemporary class. This class is perfect for dancers looking to explore contemporary techniques and emotional articulation through movement.
SPECIAL WORKSHOPS
Daniel Domenech
Daniel Domenech started his studies in 2010 at the Real Conservatorio presionado de danza Mariemma in Madrid. In 2014, after being finalist of the Prix de Lausanne he joined San Francisco Ballet training program. In 2016 he joined the Royal Ballet of Flanders in Belgium under the direction of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, where he had the opportunity to work and create with many choreographers such as: Akram Khan, Pina Bausch, Ohad Naharin, William Forsythe, Édouard Lock, Andonis Foniadakis, Benjamin Millepied, Maurice Béjart, Alexander Ekman and others. From August 2022 -2024 he has been a dancer with Ballett Theater Basel.
Carlos Kerr Jr.
Carlos is an accomplished Belizean-American artist hailing from Brooklyn, New York, and currently based in Basel, Switzerland.
Carlos's movement language has earned him widespread recognition through his magnetic and cleverly crafted works. His piece 'Remotely Equal' was selected as a Finalist in the Concours Choreographique of Mandalain Ballet Biarritz. Carlos’s work 'Never Odd or Even' was featured as part of an evening of work alongside Patrick Delcroix for the Tanz Luzerner Theater. Carlos was also selected as an Emerging Choreographer for Springboard Danse Montreal in Canada. Carlos work has been invited to numeorus venues including Tanzwerk 101 in Zurich, Dance Gallery Festival, Das Tanz Fest Schweiz, Theater Casino Zug, Theater Chur, and Dance Basel.
Carlos's artistic journey began with training at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music Art & Performing Arts. He then pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the Ailey Fordham BFA in Lincoln Center, where he graduated with honors. Carlos also holds a Master's Certificate in Advanced Sciences in Dance Science with a specialization in Health & Performance from the University of Bern.
Carlos’s performance career has spanned several dance companies and stages internationally, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Rubberband Dance Group, Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, Theater Ulm, Tanz Luzerner Theater, and Snorkel Rabbit. He has performed in repertoire and original creations of esteemed choreographers such as William Forsythe, Crystal Pite, Hofesh Shechter, Inbal Pinto, Bryan Arias, Alba Castillo, Georg Reischl, Ella Rotschild, Fernando Melo, and Marcos Morau.
Alongside his choreographic endeavors, Carlos is an international dance educator & coach, sound designer, photographer, filmmaker & a certified GYROKINESIS® trainer.
As of August 2023, Carlos is a soloist with Ballett Basel, directed by Adolphe Binder and Tilman O’Donnell.
MELANIE DAY
Melanie's journey into the world of dance began at an early age, inspired by luminaries such as Lynn Simonson, Katiti King, Dollie Henry, Jacki Mitchell, and Jason Pennycooke. Her training took her across continents, including mentorship from the prestigious Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Her experiences as a dancer and dance captain on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines broadened her horizons, exposing her to diverse cultures and dance styles.
Throughout her career, Melanie has showcased her choreographic talents in productions like "BEATLES-THE MUSICAL" and "FLASHDANCE," while also contributing to regional theater shows and community projects across Europe. Her expertise has led her to judge esteemed dance competitions and grace screens both big and small, including notable appearances on SKY TV's "BABYLON BERLIN."
Since returning to Germany in 2014, Melanie has made Bamberg her home, where she continues to inspire as a dancer, choreographer, and educator. Through MDance Creative, she shares her passion for jazz dance and musical theatre, conducting classes and workshops across Germany and Europe.
